About

Background

Hi! I’m Albert. I’m currently based in Seattle, where I work as a data scientist at Amazon in the SCOT team.

I have a PhD in biostatistics from Johns Hopkins University, where I worked on developing and applying statistical methods (ranging from ML algorithms to survival analysis) for topics in genomics and cancer research. Prior to my PhD, I studied math and statistics as an undergrad at the University of Chicago.

I started this blog in 2019, inspired by all the blogs I follow, and I try to write useful and interesting things for the community. If you’re new here, I recommend checking out my start here page to see what kind of topics I write about. I’ve also spent (i.e. wasted) many hours tinkering with the blog theme and convincing myself that it makes a difference.
